Photographic & Historic Tour Cumberland Island Georgia

We’re excited to announce a photography and historic tour to the breathtaking Cumberland Island in Georgia. This untouched paradise offers a unique opportunity to capture restored mansions, a majestic oak canopy, and the beauty of wild horses roaming free on pristine beaches. You will visit and tour Plum Orchard Mansion and the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Dungeness, once the grand estate of Thomas Carnegie. Additionally, we will visit the quaint First African Baptist Church, where John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette exchanged vows in a private ceremony. With its rich history and stunning landscapes, Cumberland Island promises an unforgettable experience for photographers of all levels.
COST: The cost of the trip for the ferry pass and the tour of the island is $115.00 which includes tax. When you arrive at the ferry docks there is an additional $15 National Park fee that you will be required to pay at that time. The Park is cashless so be prepared with a credit card.

WHERE National Park parking lot directly across from the Ferry Docks
PARKING: Parking is free all day in the National Park parking lot which is a hardpacked dirt lot.
Recommended gear: In addition to your camera gear good walking shoes, insect repellent, lunch and water (bottles can be refilled at several stops), light rain gear if necessary (check the forecast). Pack as compactly as possible.

Field Trip: Barrel Racing at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds
(reoccurring trip) The 2024 season of the St. Johns County Drum Runners is underway. Attendance is free to spectators. This is a great opportunity to build your photography skills. The action is fast and the lighting can be challenging. You’ll also have a chance to capture some candid shots of horses, riders, and their tack. This is an informal field trip. There is no agenda set by the camera club. If you see someone with a camera, introduce yourself - you’ve likely identified a fellow SACC member. Field Trip: Cars & Coffee at the St. Augustine Classic Car Museum (reoccurring Trip)
The Classic Car Museum is holding Cars and Coffee Events again in 2024 on every 4th Saturday of each Month with exception of December. This event is FREE to the Public. The has proven to be a popular opportunity for SACC members to photograph over 150 beautiful classic vehicles, and enjoy FREE Coffee and Doughnuts. This is an informal field trip. There is no agenda set by the camera club. If you see someone with a camera, introduce yourself - you’ve likely identified a fellow SACC member.
