From it’s earliest days, one of the most important roles of photography has been documenting the human experience. Not just events and places, but the feelings, emotions, and experiences that are part of the human journey. Icons such as Dorothea Lange, Robert Frank, and Henri Cartier-Bresson are famous for capturing both the highs and the lows that humans experience along the way. Photographer John Elliott spent three decades and traveled to sixty countries creating his series The Human Pulse, which records the social and cultural conditions he encountered and the experiences and emotions of the people, from joy to suffering and spontaneity to reflection. This collection has been shown in galleries and museums in the United States, Latin America, and the Middle East. In this special event hosted jointly by the St. Augustine Camera Club, Beaches Photography Club, and Jacksonville Camera Club, Elliott will share with us his images and experiences plus his insights into how we can add emotional impact to our own photography.

Last September master photographer and competition judge Dave Bowers critiqued a wide range of photos submitted by our members and provided insightful feedback into what could have been done to help those photos score better if they were entered into a competition. It was our most popular meeting of the year and the best attended. This year, Dave has agreed to do it again and we expect it to be equally popular. Details on how to submit images for review will be sent out around a month before the meeting.
